Tara Hill

The
'Cernunnos Stone' can be found in the churchyard as you approach Tara. It has become badly weathered over the years, and now very little can be seen of the horned figure, which has become covered in lichens and mosses.
The Mound of the Hostages (Below) is the most prominent structure on Tara. It is in fact a neolithic Chambered Tomb similar to those found right across Ireland. Like the structures found in the Lough Crew Range it is aligned to the Spring Equinox.

The stones within The Mound of the Hostages (Left) actually have the same patterns as found in Carn Bane East on Sliabh na Callaighe; the 'spirals' and 'flower' patterns. Also found on Tara Hill is The Lia Fail (Right), The Stone of Destiny. It is said that it will scream if the rightful High King of Ireland touches it!
