The Harvest Year
Ears of corn about to be harvested
The Jara rune represent rewards for efforts expended after a period of time; the harvest at the end of the year. It differs from the Feoh rune in that its emphasise is on work rather than investment. Traditionally this rune is associated with Yule, the Winter Solstice. This was the beginning and end of the Norse/Saxon year cycle - the yolk of the harvest year. It is traditionally a time of celebration (as it still is). This rune can therefore indicate a time to celebrate.
