CRAFT SCHOOL: Introduction
Finding a Training Group and other Witches
All
though it is quite possible to train yourself as a witch - the days of there being a stigma agianst those who self initiate are long since gone; it is still always preferable to find other witches to help you on your path. Training as a solitary requires immense dedication, the ability to recognise and learn quickly from ones mistakes, and takes more time than if you were learning alongside someone.
The ideal is to find a training group in your own area. Such groups should be approached carefully, and you should try to 'check them out' first before making a commitment. Unfortunately in areas where Paganism and Witchcraft are underground, and not in touch with wider state or national communities, charlatans, abusive and unscrupulous individuals thrive unchecked by their local communities. It is always best to find a group linked to a national organisation; but this is still no guaratee. Be aware of this when you approach a Wiccan group for the first time.
