Elk (or Sedge Grass)

Elk protects itself with its horns.

(Sedge grass is thorny to touch)

The Elk showing its horns.

(Sedge Grass growing)

Different writers give different meanings for this stave. The Norse tended to see it as Elk and the Saxons as Sedge Grass. Whatever the meaning is the same - protection against the evil thoughts and actions of others. This rune protects the individual from their own folly; both in personal relationships and in financial dealings. It promotes friendships which are of benefit to the individual and can indicate the renouncing of one opportunity for another with good results.
