Is Anybody Listening?

When Nile-born Isis spread her rainbow wings
From Nubia to York,
From Asia to the Pillars of Hercules,
Her silver voice rang clear: "There are no frontiers."

Was anybody listening?

When the Nazarene drank at the Samaritan well,
When loinclothed Ghandi stilled massacres with a word,
When Geldof swayed the spellbound stadium,
The word rang clear:
"There are no frontiers."

Was anybody listening?

In distant Chernobyl, one concrete room berserked;
And round the world the Geigers clicked:

"There are no frontiers."

Is anybody listening?
For God's sake -
Is anybody listening?
